Sunbeam CK328
One of the few Class I smacks left sailing today. Built by Howard of Maldon in 1881 she is 50' on deck. Seen here at the Shotley Classic Boat Festival, she has been beautifully restored . The jib runner outhaul passes through a large sheave in the end of the bowsprit just aft of the cranse iron. The jib halyard hook block is hooked on to the traveller ready for action. The bobstay chain has been cleared out of the way by the lizard seen passing through the bulwarks just ahead of the sun motif.
