-----------Sunbeam CK328 |
Built by Howard of Maldon in 1881 she is 50' on deck. The tackle at the fore end of the channel is for the bowsprit shroud and the next aft is for the topmast shroud. Both require to be eased to allow removal of the fids. Neat work with the deadeye lanyards. The width of the channels need to be carefully considered so that the chains don't lie on the rail. As you can see, they were judged just right in Sunbeam's case. The iron horse forward of the mast is for the stays'l sheet which runs almost vertically down to a shackle sliding on the horse. Foot tension in the stays'l is controlled by a bowline from the clew to the fore shroud made off with a slip knot for quick release. You can tell that the owner has lots of money by the use of modern fenders and not car tyres!
