  SMACKS FOR SALE OR WANTED

FOR SALE - The oyster smack Electron CK36

Worked for most of her life locally before being converted to a life of leisure.
Now in good condition with a recent survey and ready to go.
Offers in the region of £50,000 for this fine example of our fishing heritage.

Built by Robert Aldous, Brightlingsea in 1909
Length on deck - 36 ft. Beam - 9.4 ft. Draught - 5 ft.
Registered Tonnage - 9.27 tons.

Hull larch on oak. Frames sided 3" and moulded 3" at the gunwhale and 4" at the keel.
4 berth. Traditional internal ballast in lead.
VHF fitted. Two ring gas cooker in galley - gas stored on deck and copper pipe to flexible unit.
Main anchor approx. 60 lb. fishermans type on at least a shackle of short link chain handled by traditional pawl windlass. Kedge anchor 20 lbs. CQR on 10 ft. of short link chain then warp.

1984/87 Re-built from the keel up by Andrew Harman and Tony Terle.
1997 ___New keel bolts throughout by Colin White
1998/99 New Yanmar 18 hp. diesel fitted by French Marine
1999/00 New wooden mast by Colin White
1999/00 New sails (Tan Clipper) by Gale Heard - main, tow stays'l, No.1 jib.
2001 ___New wooden boom by Colin White
2001 ___Rudder hangings machined and bushed with bronze.

She now lies in the Smack Dock at Brightlingsea.
